Building Storage Area and Fire Damage--Columbus

This commercial building suffered a fire-damaging event from stored flammable liquids. Infractions from safe and mandated storage codes created this problem. Once the area is cleared of items, the removal of the charred layer to the studs and joists can happen. One technique used by SERVPRO FST technicians is a process called "ice-blasting." This is a highly efficient and cost-effective technique. The CO2 pellets shot out under pressure from a compressor and hopper device, chafe and smoothe the burnt wood. An ozone machine, working through the night, can clear the air of odorous airborne molecules. Then an odor-retardant primer can be applied to the exposed structural supports.
