Columbus Floor Damage from Water

The cupped hardwood floor planks are the result of standing water soaking into the porous material. Damage like this to a Columbus home requires a slow drying process to remove the moisture without stressing the grains of the wood. A section of the flooring is removed to dry out the plywood subfloor which is anchored to the floor joists of the crawl space. A portion of the wall was demolished and tossed, not like the salvaged hardwoods. With the use of drying mats and dehumidifiers, the weather was warm enough to use gel type equipment to complete the process. Techs used moisture meters to validate that the damaged water areas were returned to normal moisture levels. The reinstallation of the planks was now possible knowing that no further damage would occur. Refinishing the floors can tie the room into a good finished look.
